I bought the DCS JF-17 a few months ago when it was released but never really took the time to get familiar with it until now. On Sunday I decided to spend the week learning how to use it. I still need to learn how to use the anti-ship and anti-radar missiles, but I think I got the hang of most of it. It’s similar to the F/A-18 so that helped a lot.
I also picked up the Fw-190A8 yesterday since it was on sale. The WW2 birds are a bitch to get off and on the ground, but once I learned the trick of locking the tail wheel it’s much more tame. Still tricky, but doable. After flying the sleek modern jets, it really feels like the airplane version of a 50's F1 car.
Next week I think I’ll focus on the Mirage M-2000.

Probably one of the most intimidating games out there. Decided to try the free version just to see if my older rig can even run it.

Yea , it has a really steep learning curve and needs a monster PC , especially for VR. But once you figure out the basics, holy hell is it addicting.

I also don’t have a HOTAS which will diminish the immersion quite a bit. Probably just have to stick with War Thunder which is not really the same thing at al.

I was buying some discounted stuff on Steam today. It seems I get a couple of emails about stuff on my wishlist that’s on sale. Well, I missed the one thing I wanted to buy, but some extension told me that it was on sale at Fanatical for less than the price Steam was offering it at - score!
While I was poking around on Fanatical I found some lunar lander simulator that looked interesting. There weren’t any reviews, so I popped over to Steam to see what people had been saying about it. Two things hit me - one, the reviews were quite good, and two, I purchased this program over 4 years ago...
I will admit that I probably haven’t even tried 5% of the stuff in my Steam library. Now that I have all the time in the world I’ll have to rectify that problem. Maybe by the time this is over I can make it to perhaps 10%...

A couple of other DCS YouTubers I’d recommend:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh2rDh7vXGeoh1LlzL3QEwg
The 104th Group does these events called Red Flag, where they organize a large scenario with 30 or 40 pilots per side. Usually each pilot only has one or two lives so if you get shot down you’re out. They stream them from a neutral perspective and 104th_Maverick hosts it with tons of enthusiasm, they’re really entertaining:
And there’s
a DCS eSports/Top Gun league:
